G'day Mate
How ya goin' matey?
Fine - better, thanks for asking.
Geez - post-vacation stress disorder (can't we come up with names for everything now?) combined with jetlag on top of post-E suicide Tuesday was not making Robby a happy boy.
However - now I'm feeling a bit more human.
For some highlights - here's a list of sorts - a list of some events, with a few thoughts sprinkled like a delicate spice amongst the ingredients...:
Nervous anticipation (I wanna go NOW)
Got the 1st Class upgrade to LAX, bless your little hearts!
Sat next to semi-famous (in Gay Games terms) figure skater with whom I'd already had sex years ago (RJ a row behind finishing work project) and had a lovely visit
Long Business Class flight (thank you frequent flyer miles!) to Sydney
Joined Mile-High Club (yes, tacky but necessary in this case)
Checked in to favorite hotel & got favorite balcony room
Met up with fabulous friend Woody, along with Peter & Christopher
Wonderful massage from favorite all-time masseur
Opening Ceremonies of Games - Hurry Up & Wait - met wonderful boys from LA, including another Rob & Robert couple and tennis-playing Gary & Tony, and blue-eyed Tim - the evening's festivities capped by a Spectacular Fabulous Show (thanks kd!) & some moving speeches
Early to bed to prepare for . . .
Triathlon on 1st day of competition! Finished 7th in men's teams (out of 30-something (?) teams) woo-hoo!
Party on the steps of the Harbor - Cowboy hat became my signature dance party accessory (easy to spot me too - 6'2" with the hat = 6'6" at least)
Annoying Rehearsals for choir concert - this had better be worth it sweetie!
Pet the koalas & kangaroos at the reserve (soft, but stinky), and became the 6,458,248th person to say "A dingo took my baby!" when we saw the dingoes there.
Fabulous Figure Skating competition (Go Team NY) - complete with the sexiest boy I've ever seen on ice, who was evidently filming an Art Film with Ms. LaRue in Sydney at the same time - May I pre-order my copy please?
Singing in the Sydney Opera House (!) - the fun of which almost made up for the cunty dykes running the choir show (not that all dykes are cunty, mind you - I'm just saying these 2 were super-cunty)
Black Party & More hat-wearing (with black/blue snakeskin pants this time)
Pink Flamingo at the Swimming/Diving finals - complete with the fabulous Jacqueline Jonee & Team NY Aquatics
Closing Ceremonies (yawn!)
More Dancing & Hat Wearing at Farewell Party - Tina Arena performed (my 2nd favorite Australian diva - next to guess who)
Flee Sydney with the rest of the boys to Cairns, warmth & sunshine
Horrible mistake to go on dive-boat for 2 nights - trashy trashy tacky clientele - but fabulous sharks, turtles & fishes for SCUBA
Fun dinner in Cairns with my surgeon from NY - it's a Small Gay World boys & girls
Tour of Rainforest - very very very dry with bush fires ablaze in lots of areas
Jet off to Melbourne for a few days
Wonderful meal at Circa in our hotel
Fabulous wine-tasting tour of the Macedon Ranges & climbing Hanging Rock - Picnic anyone?
Joyfully return to Sydney for a last farewell day
Boozy fabulous lunch at Catalina in Rose Bay with Woody, Christopher, Vanessa & RJ
DECADENT afternoon & evening - followed by dancing at Arc & other various & sundry traipsings about
LONG long long flight back to LAX
Horrible fucking policy of reward travel got us stuck in coach/steerage for the final 6 hours to EWR - A big Fuck You to Continental!
Reunion with the Best Dog In The World (thanks Gene for taking care of our baby!)
Jetlag, brittle nerves, tears & exhaustion - Oh yeah, you already experienced that yesterday.
